The German airline Lufthansa has been forced to cancel hundreds of flights as the company’s pilots and cabin crew are on strike. This also affects travel to and from Sweden. The pilots’ union launched a two-day strike on Monday, and the cabin crew union has now issued a strike notice for Wednesday and Thursday.
The reason for the strike is a dispute over wages and pension levels. At Frankfurt Airport alone, Germany’s largest airport, 572 of 1,322 flights were cancelled on Monday. The strike includes cancelled departures to several German destinations from Arlanda on Monday and Tuesday.
